Is there an editor in the House? I have finished my first draft of “Adrift in an Atoll Nation, Diary of a South Sea Trader” I grew up in the Southern California Community of Costa Mesa. At 16 years of age I travelled to Hawaii on a surfing trip that lasted my whole life. By age 19 I was in Guam surfing and doing volunteer work building a church, when I heard a rumor of perfect surf on Christmas Island. I took off to find those waves by travelling through the Gilbert Islands. That journey took 12 years, getting married, being a South Seas Trader, travelling to the many islands of Kiribati trading in handicrafts and marine products until I discovered the fantastic surf of Christmas Island. A year later I found a paradisaical island, verdant and tropical and with the most perfect I wave I had ever seen. There I crashed, lived as beachcomber, got involved with island politics, surfed every day and catching my own dinner until one day a cruise ship arrived. I made little handicrafts and sold them, reinvested until I bought a yacht for charter. Then there was the frightening experience of meeting people whom were connected to the masterminding the events of 9/11, contacted the FBI that foiled a plot that could have lead to a terroristic attack on Hawaii. The dream life was as good as it gets sharing good surfing and fishing with friends, having a glass of wine, watching a sunset. The story is far from over, I have written my memoir of 260,000 words with 450 historical pictures….Far too much for books that average 80 to 100,000 words. I don’t know where to edit and shorten, take out decades of exciting adventures or, make a series of books. So, I am looking for an editor, or publisher or producer. Are you the one who can make this happen or mentor me? Chuck Corbett
